The Platform connects homeowners and property owners with independent roofing contractors. Contractors are independent businesses and may process information you share with them subject to their own privacy practices.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

• Service request information (submitted by homeowners): name, contact details (email/phone), location details (e.g., city, postal code, address), project details, timeframes, photos or uploads, and any additional comments.
• Q&A submissions: first name, contact information for notifications, location you provide, your question text, and optional images.
• Contractor account information: account identifiers, business profile details you provide, and platform activity related to leads and account settings.
• Payment and transaction information (Contractors): purchase amounts, taxes, and Stripe checkout/session identifiers. Payment card data is handled by Stripe and is not stored by Ontario Roofers.
• Usage and device information: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring/exit pages, approximate location, pages viewed, clicks, and timestamps.
• Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication, session management, preferences, and analytics.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless specifically requested and necessary to use the Platform.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Platform and its features.
• Match service requests with contractors and enable contractors to view and respond to leads.
• Send communications you request (e.g., tracking updates, notifications when a question is answered).
• Facilitate contractor purchases (credits and other paid features) and manage fraud prevention, dispute handling, and accounting.
• Maintain safety, security, and integrity, including detecting abuse and spam.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information as follows:

• With contractors: if you submit a service request, we may share your request details and contact information with contractors who match your request.
• With service providers: vendors that help us operate the Platform (e.g., hosting, storage, email delivery, analytics, security, customer support).
• With payment processors: payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe’s use of your information is governed by Stripe’s own policies.
• For legal and safety reasons: if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Ontario Roofers, users, contractors, or others.
• Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell personal information for money in the traditional sense. However, when you submit a service request, your information may be shared with contractors to facilitate connections and contractor lead access.

5. Public and Semi-Public Content

Some content may be displayed publicly or semi-publicly. For example, questions submitted through the Q&A feature may be made public, and answers may be displayed to other users.

Do not include personal information in question text or images if you do not want it to be shared.

6. Tracking Links and Redaction

Some service requests may be accessible via a unique tracking link. We may display redacted versions of certain personal information on tracking pages to reduce exposure.

You are responsible for keeping tracking links confidential. Anyone with the link may be able to view the tracking page.

7. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, and basic site functionality. We may also use analytics tools to understand usage and improve the Platform.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may impact functionality.

8. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain business records. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and context.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Marketing choices: if you receive promotional emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link.
• Account information: contractors can update certain account information through the Platform.
• Access/correction: contact us to request access to or correction of information.

If you provided information to a contractor directly, you may need to contact that contractor to exercise rights related to their systems.

11. Third-Party Links

The Platform may link to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above indicates when it was last updated.
